Dr. Susan Welnel is a seasoned clinical psychologist who believes in the genuine good in people.
Life can be hard, and she enjoys helping people through life’s tougher moments by providing psychoeducation, developing skill building and developing coping strategies. She received her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Twin Cities. She was honored to receive the President’s Leadership Award during her time at the University. She completed an internship with the Veteran’s Administration in Iowa and completed her Post Doctoral education with the Minnesota Consortium for Advanced Rural Psychology Training. She provided services for 11 agencies during that time. She has worked in several large healthcare systems, chairing the department in one of her more recent work experiences.
Dr. Welnel works primarily with adult populations for assessment and treatment of psychological difficulties. Typical conditions treated include problems with trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and grief. Dr. Welnel will start your journey into therapy with information gathering, assessment, discussion of goals, direction for therapy and an appropriate therapy modality that fits the person and problem to be addressed. Common treatment modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal, Solution Focused and Schema based treatments.
Dr. Welnel holds active licenses in Florida, Montana and Minnesota. She provides in person services part of the year in Florida (in season) and provides tele-health services to all the states where she is licensed year round.
